How to Play Ramen Road

Master the mechanics and start collecting ramen cards

Core Game Mechanics

Ramen Road combines real-world exploration with digital collection. Visit actual ramen shops, check in when you're within 100 meters, and create unique cards to build your collection.

📍

Check-In System

100-Meter Rule

You must be within 100 meters of a shop to check in. This ensures you're actually visiting the location and experiencing the ramen firsthand.

Location Permission Required

Your browser will ask for location access. This is only used to verify you're near the shop - your location data is never stored or shared.

Real-Time Verification

GPS coordinates are checked in real-time. If you're too far, you'll see your exact distance and can move closer to enable check-in.

Creating Your Ramen Card

1

Take a Photo

Capture your ramen bowl to commemorate the visit. This becomes the featured image on your card.

  • Max file size: 5MB (JPG, PNG, HEIC)
  • Tip: Good lighting makes cards look better
  • You can choose from camera or gallery on mobile
2

Name Your Bowl (Optional)

Give your bowl a memorable name like "Extra Chashu Special" or "My First Iekei". This is optional but makes cards more personal.

3

Add Quick Tags (Optional)

Select tags to describe your experience. Examples:

🔥 Spicy🧄 Extra Garlic🍜 Classic💯 Perfect
4

Card Generated!

Your card is created instantly with shop details, lineage information, serial number, timestamp, and your photo. Each card is unique and numbered per shop.

What's On Your Card

Serial Number

Each shop has its own numbering sequence. Your card shows which visit number you are at that specific shop.

Visit Timestamp

Exact date and time of your check-in, preserving the memory of your visit.

Lineage Badge

Shows which of the 7 lineages the shop belongs to, with color-coded styling.

Check-In Distance

Records how far you were from the shop when you checked in (0-100m).

Troubleshooting

"Location access denied"

Check your browser settings and grant location permission. On iOS: Settings → Safari → Location. On Android: Settings → Site Settings → Location.

"GPS not accurate enough"

Make sure you're outdoors with a clear view of the sky. GPS works poorly indoors or in dense urban areas with tall buildings.

"Can't upload photo"

Ensure your photo is under 5MB and in a supported format (JPG, PNG, HEIC). Try reducing the image size or quality.
